NEW YORK FASHION WEEK:

THE BEST OF DAY 1

_________________________________________________________________________________

September 10, 2015

New York Fashion Week, the opening week of Fashion Month, kicked off the festivities a little early this season on Wednesday night with Rachel Comey's dinner and fashion show held in Brooklyn.  Once Thursday (the traditional day NYFW kicks off) came around, the real chaotic fun that fashion lovers wait all year for had finally commenced. With models, fashionistas, journalists, socialites, photographers, and bloggers coming out to support and celebrate designers' Spring/Summer 2016 RTW collections, on and off the runway (Rhianna's VIP after party last night, anyone?) this year's Fall NYFW has started off with a fashionable bang.

HIGHLIGHTS

MOST BUZZED ABOUT RUNWAY SHOW :

Rachel Comey:  Spring 2016 RTW

Noted in the industry for designing women's RTW that functional and fashionable, Rachel Comey's latest collection helps sustains this notion. Rather than positioning her clothes as a fantasy that potential customers may wish to enter into, Comey's alternative designs validate the reality and functionality of her clothes.

The execution of her Spring Summer 2016 show also helped reinforce her "reality over fantasy" design ethic reputation as the models that she used in the show were not the typical models you see at Fashion Week. The models used in her show were dancers of all ages, colors, and sizes, figures that women can relate to. They each were dressed in clothing that fit them with ease and they all looked like interesting, stylish real women you would encounter on the street.
Many audience members were not shy to admit that the show moved them in many ways.

MOST STANDOUT COLLECTION:

Creatures of the Wind : Spring 2016 RTW

Fashion is all about reinvention and innovation. The two masterminds behind Creatures of the Wind, Christopher Peters and Shane Gabier took this concept and turned it into their Spring 2016 RTW collection, a relevant pastiche of the two designers' favorite fashion styles of the past.

Of course, no garment was with out the original aesthetics that Creatures of the Wind are loved for. And from what their collection showed, the 70s aren't going away anytime soon.

BEST AFTER PARTY :

Rihanna's NYFW After Party - "The Rihanna Party" @ EDITION Hotel NYC

The party that started off the highly anticipated NYFW this Fall, was of course the star studded and fashion filled party thrown by Bad Gal RiRi herself, Rihanna. The best of the best in fashion came out to celebrate and here are the best moments of the event:

The Hostess with The Mostest:
Rihanna killing the 90s chic style with this look.
I'm loving the dress over pants layering, and the intricate chokers.
And the blue lipstick: only RiRi can pull that off. LOVE IT

GiGi Hadid and Joe Jonas:
She looked radiant in her Tommy Hilfiger
 cocktail dress, but Joe looks
too casual in comparison with GiGi.
I think he could step his style game up for sure,
ESPECIALLY during fashion week.

Young Thug, The Weeknd, Pharrell Williams, Candice Sawnepol, Chris Rock, and Wiz Khalifa were just among some of the famous attendees.
