Surreal Fashion Craze -- "Facekinis"???

The fashion world can officially thank Peng Yangjun for exposing us all to the bizarre fashion craze in China that has been informally dubbed "Facekinis." The public of Qingdao nicknamed these due to the brightly colored and printed materials of each mask that are just as bold in making a statement as a bikini.
These facial beach accessories are worn by a majority of women in the eastern Chinese seaside city of Qingdao, which is the swimming masks's place of origin.

Compared to the standard beach fashion trends in America and Europe, the "Facekini" is uncanny in design and function as a beach fashion accessory.

Despite the critical oddities between our cultures in beach fashions, Yangjun also captures the universal feeling the beach brings no matter where you are or where you're from -- or most importantly -- what you're wearing. He delightfully captures these Qingdao women in proud and fun-loving stances, illustrating that there is a common factor in all situations that seem extremely different throughout the world's cultures.
